What inspires the Ishtar Project?

Local women, their lives, and their healing. Throughout the Greater Austin Area, women facilitate healing. They perform healing work in their daily lives through holistic businesses, ventures, or workshops. They undertake personal journeys to wholeness and wellness. They access local resources and organizations. And they work with others to create opportunities for personal and spiritual growth. This healing work is vital as women continue to face inequality, sexual and domestic violence, and other challenges to empowerment.

The Goddess Ishtar's story. The namesake of the Ishtar Project is best known as an ancient Mesopotamian goddess of love, war, and fertility. In myth, she challenges modern-day expectations of women. She is sensual, expresses herself freely, and balances what we call feminine and masculine qualities. Her famous journey to the underworld and back is an inspiring tale of rebirth - of herself and of the planet. Through deep healing, she finds her true power.

The Ishtar Project celebrates the healing work women perform for themselves and with others.

The project honors those who impact women in life-changing ways.
